| Rouge Valley Wins Provincial Award! |

Women and children's health program one of six awarded The Rouge Valley Health System has recently won 1 of 6 $10,000 grants for a new program focusing on women and children’s health. Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care presented them with the 2009 Innovation Award for Innovations in Health Human Resources.Rose Owen, clinical practice leader, neonatal intensive care unit and special care nursery, and Minette MacNeil, clinical practice leader, pediatrics and surgery at Rouge Valley both developed “The Rouge Valley project and exhibit Neonatal and Pediatric Orientation Program” which was designed for the New Graduate. The whole purpose of this Program is to give “new nurses a comprehensive knowledge base to enhance caring for the sick newborn child and their families through lab settings and working alongside experience mentors.” Ms. MacNeil commented, “We are pleasantly surprised and honoured to receive this award. We are proud to have our project celebrated among such an innovative group of other exhibits all aimed at improving the quality of health care given to our patients.” Please visit Durham Region’s Website for more information. |
