Local Volunteer On Eco-Mission To Africa!

A student from Ajax, Ontario is heading to Africa as part of a program aimed at bringing hope to struggling communities in developing countries.

Alison Sumner has been selected to join a Volunteer Eco Students Abroad (VESA) program aimed at helping the indigenous people of remote villages in South Africa and Swaziland improve their living conditions and the education of their children, as well as working with the National Parks Authority on conservation projects.

“I am so excited to be part of this project. VESA has presented us students with an amazing opportunity to immerse ourselves in another culture while using our skills and resources to increase health, safety, and education levels in villages that are in need,” says Alison.

The 2-week ‘eco-breaks’ are tailor made, enabling participants to combine meaningful, community-based volunteer work with exciting adventure tourism.

By sponsoring Alison, you will be directly assisting with the costs involved in participating in the program. These costs are significant and include hiring local skilled trades people to supervise and assist in the building projects, building materials and donations to local organizations. Every volunteer will complete a minimum of 40 hours of hands on community based volunteer work.

Alison would appreciate donations of any amount, which will enable her to participate in this vital community development program. Whilst VESA is a volunteer organisation, it is not a registered charity so donations will not be tax deductible.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Alison to make a difference donating her time and energy into volunteering overseas this summer.
